Spoken Thought – And So It Begins

Spoken Thought is a local rap duo in South Florida. The clients wanted a cover that juxtaposed hyper-capitalism with the aesthetics of Soviet-era propaganda. The members of the group are depicted in a posterized style with fully-detailed facial features as opposed to the ambiguous portraiture of Soviet citizens. This presentation reinforces the importance of the individual instead of the community which was a significant difference between Western and Eastern ideology. Their business suits are also a stark contrast to the typical attire of the proletariat. The images below show the progression from photograph to vectorization, line art, color fill and final mock-up.
