Resizing Graphic Blocks Can Mishape Your Kid
This silk screen called for a self portrait that reflected the artist’s personality. Having always been a perfectionist, this piece aimed to provide an accurate depiction of myself and quickly became an exercise in tight registration as well. The red and yellow give a somewhat natural look to the face, while the blue and cyan were part of the actual shirt used in the photograph. All of the colors selected were deliberate: the red, green and blue refer to digital screens (RGB) while the cyan, magenta, yellow and black refer to print (CMYK). The capital letters in the title also allude to the colors used in the print. The title, although somewhat nonsensical, refers to an mishap where two of the seven screens were printed at the wrong scale and caused a test print to have a disproportional face.
